Biography

Don Atchison

His Worship Mayor Donald Atchison was born and raised in Saskatoon.

An avid sportsman, Mayor Atchison has participated in curling, tennis, football, and golf. He was involved in hockey for many years, both as a professional player and as a coach.

Mayor Atchison has been involved in the business community for over 30 years. He and his wife Mardele have five children.

Mayor Atchison was first elected to City Council as a Councillor of Ward 10 in 1994 and served as Councillor until 2003. In 2003, Councillor Atchison was elected Mayor of the City of Saskatoon. He was re-elected as Mayor in 2006 and again on October 28, 2009.

During his fifteen years on Council, Mayor Atchison has been a member of almost every Board and Committee established by City Council.

Mayor Atchison is committed to a responsible, accountable city government that will work in partnership with the community. Accessibility and approachability are very important to the Mayor as demonstrated by his attendance at an extensive number of meetings and public events, his response to numerous telephone enquiries, and his establishment of public ward meetings in each of the city’s ten wards. Mayor Atchison believes that by working together we can achieve goals that benefit the whole community - as Saskatoon belongs to everyone.
